In Between
I am not a fan of the in between. I like to be here or there. I am sometimes anxious or weary in transition. All of the wonder and unanswered questions are unnerving. The in between is when you are not where you came from but not yet where you are headed. It is the journey. The path that we are told to enjoy not simply endure. Sounds lovely and it reads well on a greeting card. The actuality of walking this out in day to day life is something different all together. You leave where you were because you come to a realization that it is not what you need. Perhaps it served a great purpose it its time but that time is up. You work up enough courage to say goodbye. You activate your faith letting go of everything familiar in search of the unknown. What do you do when you know whats wrong but you can not yet in detail map out what is right? A vision, a dream, a goal and a plan may loom in your heart, on pages and throughout spread sheets but it is still for you an uncharted road. It is commendable to walk away is the first step. Many cling to what is familiar out of comfort and fear. Unfortunately often to their detriment. So, hooray you let go. You worked up the courage and mustard up the faith to walk away and release. Now. Now what? You proceed. Feet trembling. Stomach rumbling and spectators doubting. How do you continue with such uncertainty? The promise of what you are walking toward is greater than any facade of comfort you left behind.
How do you survive the in between? Some suggest you see the vision. Create a vision board chart the course and visualize yourself where you are headed. Some suggest you say it speak it daily make it a part of your vernacular making it real and starving your doubts. Some suggest you find accountability to help you on your path to your goals. I say do everything and anything that helps you during the in between. You left. Maybe it was not wrong but you knew in your gut it was not right. Remember that you left. Remember why you left. Allow the pursuit of better to fuel you. Embrace the dream of greatness. Allow the determination to not live in the land of mediocre force you to run toward the unknown with unshakable certainty. Commit to yourself. Commit to your growth and destiny. I also agree with the cliche saying. Enjoy don’t just endure the journey. Take in the sights. Document the frustrations. Chart your progress and one day, one day when you are standing in your there. Delight yourself in all it took to build and create this newness.
